A biologist crouched on the leaf litter of a humid montane forest, hands steadying an open waterproof notebook against one knee, a small collecting vial and hand lens resting on the moss beside him; the forest floor and mossy trunks fill the lower and right portion of the frame while the upper left opens into soft empty haze between trunks. Upright eye-level vantage, horizon of understory foliage visible behind.
